2016 Fáinne Pinot noir 1.5
Fáinne, ring or full circle in Irish, honors the intertwining farming and merchant heritage of previous generations of the Fairsing Vineyard owners.
Each Fáinne vintage is meticulously crafted in the cellar from select barrels encompassing the finest fruit from across the estate.
A deft blend of Pommard (60%), Wadensvil (20%), and Dijon 777 (20%), this wine barrel-aged 16 months in 40% new French oak with a final alcohol of 14.4%.
The barrel select Fáinne Pinot noir balances earthiness and elegance and is framed by broad tannins with a dense enveloping texture.
Deep ruby in color with hints of earth and light tobacco on the nose. Layers of rich black cherry dance across the palate and mingle with spice and white pepper through a lingering finish.
This wine is destined for beautiful development in the cellar and will reward the collector through 2030.
Harvested September 7, 2016, this wine was fermented in two-ton fermenters and then moved to barrels, 40% of which were new French oak. It was aged in barrel 16 months and bottled December 7, 2017.
Our 2016 barrel select Fáinne Pinot noir represents the finest of Fairsing Vineyard. Selections contained in this bottle include Pommard 60%, Wadenswil 20%, and Dijon 777 20% with final alcohol of 14.4%.
